Instructor | US Army Veteran & IT Project Manager: Oscar Mosqueda
Oscar Mosqueda joined Kore Self Defense & Krav Maga in June 2023, quickly distinguishing himself through his disciplined approach and technical aptitude. After successfully completing Kore’s intensive, year-long Instructor’s College, Oscar officially joined our leadership cadre. In November 2025, he reached a significant milestone by earning his Full Kore Instructor Certification, solidifying his role as a lead educator within our community.
A Foundation of Service and Precision
Oscar’s instructional style is informed by a career dedicated to service and technical excellence. A veteran of the US Army Reserves, Oscar later transitioned into an extensive career in Federal service, managing complex technical operations and IT systems across the globe.
His academic and professional background brings a unique level of precision to the mats:
-
Academic Credentials: Oscar holds an Associate and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, as well as a Master’s in Information Systems with a minor in Management.
-
Professional Expertise: Currently an IT Project Manager focused on network engineering, Oscar applies the same analytical “systems-thinking” to deconstructing self-defense techniques for his students.
-
Specialized Training: He has completed the 500 Rising Level 1 course, integrating gender-specific proactive and responsive safety strategies into his teaching.
Family and Community Leadership
Oscar’s passion for martial arts is a family affair. Having trained in traditional disciplines alongside his children, he is proud that both of his children are now active Krav Maga practitioners. This multi-generational perspective makes him an excellent mentor for families entering the Kore program together.
Though originally from Southern California, Oscar has spent years establishing roots in Northern Virginia. When he isn’t on the mats, he is an avid traveler who finds his greatest joy in exploring the world with his wife and children.
Commitment to the Mission
At Kore, Oscar is dedicated to the mission of building a safer, more resilient community. He bridges the gap between the “hardware” of physical technique and the “software” of tactical awareness, ensuring his students are prepared for the complexities of the modern world.
