You were born to be extraordinary
And Kore can help bring that alive for students across the gender spectrum. Home to the #500Rising Project, we are the premier self-defense training center for women in the U.S. It’s not an idle claim, although it is a bold one and we stand confidently behind it. Specifically, our programming integrates the physical and psychological training that can reduce the risk of being targeted for types of violence particularly concerning to women (rape, abduction, sexual assault & partner-based abuse).
What sets Kore apart?
Kore was founded by Tammy McCracken, one of the top ranked women in the United States. Beyond certification as an expert in Krav Maga, she is a court-recognized subject matter expert in violence dynamics with nearly 30 years as a psychotherapist working with survivors. Kore is backed by team of experienced instructors in women’s self-defense working alongside the founder creating innovative approaches in self-defense for women.
Fail the predatory interview
Most criminals who target women, regardless of the crime, begin their attack long before you see them. This process is what we call the Predatory Interview. They look at how you move, how you walk, how you use eye contact, etc. Training with us will change all of those things. You will move with a level of confidence that will cause you to FAIL THE PREDATORY INTERVIEW from a distance.
INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED TRAINING PROGRAM
With so many fitness options, why choose Kore Self Defense?
You have more fitness options than grocery stores here in Loudoun County. Training in a Krav Maga based self-defense program will do one thing the other programs can never do for you: remarkably decrease your chances of being approached as a potential crime victim.
Although Krav Maga is one of the best systemized approaches for self-defense training, we understand that no single system can be the sum total source of information. Our founder, Tammy McCracken, has trained under other violence experts Including international expert & author, Rory Miller, with whom she has a collaborative working relationship. That experience and working relationship has the foundation for our holistic approach to women’s self-defense.

#500RISING
Kore is the birthplace of the #500Rising Project.
We stand on strong shoulders of women who have gone before us.
500 Rising started as a face-palm blog post. A personal rant about strength and power with the #METOO movement. The METOO movement helped bring activation for social awareness in the entertainment industry and it had some impact. What no meme or hashtag can do (and yes we have a hashtag too), is give Target demographics the skills necessary to change the statistics in sexual violence.
