This session will combine prevention and de-escalation tactics for hair and shirt grabs. Hair pulls include being pulled forward (burst forward in full guard, elbow strikes), pulled forward and down (burst forward with lead arm block, whip strike to groin), sweetheart pull (bone-slaving action with cross arms and trapping elbow), pulled from the side and down (spin, defend, counterstrike), pulled from the side (burst forward in full guard, elbow strikes), pulled from behind with downward drive (funny step spin back, defend, counterstrike), and pulled from behind without downward drive (turn in full guard, elbow spear). Shirt grabs will cover the step back and arm rotation technique, defense against two-handed shirt grabs (step back and elbow insertion), attack-the-attacker responses to shirt grabs, defense against one-handed shirt grabs from the rear (step, turn, elbow spear), and defenses against shirt grabs with incoming strikes. It will also cover releases from various standing pulls like pulling/dragging the arm/hoodie/coat (turn and strike, face scrub) and backpack/purse grab (release and climb to threat).
